Pochoir (That’s fancy French for stencil) with Macy Chadwick

Learn a stencil technique to add atmospheric, mysterious imagery to your books and prints. Macy will introduce techniques for making beautiful images with pochoir, using hand-cut mylar stencils and a dry-brush technique. After creating a sequence of shapes and layers of colors, you'll bind samples of your newfound pochoir techniques, creating a book complete with pockets for your stencils—a pochoir reference and keepsake.
Instructor Biography: Macy Chadwick, MFA in Book Arts/Printmaking from University of the Arts in Philadelphia, has taught at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, Colorado College, Oregon College of Art and Craft, the New York Center for Book Arts, and in her own studio. She worked as studio assistant to Julie Chen at Flying Fish Press in Berkeley for three years. Publishing as In Cahoots Press, Macy produces limited edition books & prints, often involving the themes of memory and personal communication. Her artist's books have been displayed nationally and are in collections in the U.S. and abroad.
